I have been an educator for over 23 years: the first fourteen as an English/Reading teacher and the remaining time as a school librarian. I love, love, LOVE reading ... completely addicted to the written word (nice trait for a librarian, huh?); enjoy nature photography as well as trying to photograph items from odd angles; have fun interacting with historical places via traveling; am fascinated by antiques and other primary sources (not the ones necessarily for show, but those that illustrate the wonders of our history - such as old phones and cameras, 1800 farm equipment, and early 1900 newspapers); have a fascination with trees; and LOVE reading ... oh, I already said that, didn't I. :)
My immediate family consists of my husband of 25 years; our amazing middle-school aged daughter; and four 4-legged friends (two dogs AND two cats).
A lifetime learner, I graduated from the University of Southern Colorado (now known as Colorado State University of Pueblo) with a Bachelor of Arts in English; Lesley University with a Master of Education; and Wayne State University with a Master of Library and Information Science.
I am passionate regarding creating activities to tie reading, creativity, and students together and am always up for doing weird things (such as dressing up in costumes and eating bugs; although, they were chocolate covered) to promote reading.
